2020 Summerside Winter Games- Monday
The first day of the 2020 Winter Games is complete! Here is a recap of the day:
Opening Ceremonies
The opening ceremonies were held at the Silver Fox Curling Club. City of Summerside Councillor, Cory Snow, 55+ Games board members, many curling participants and volunteers were all in attendance.

Flag Raising
The 55+ Games flag was raised at the Credit Union Place with the help of Councillor Snow, President Kim Knight-Picketts and board member Doreen Percy. The flag will fly until the celebration luncheon on Thursday.
Events
Curling, hockey, and team bowling all got under way on the first day! Here are some photos and results from the day:
Hockey
Summerside Old Spuds 1 – Summerside Combines 1 (60+)
Tignish Aces 9 – Summerside Aces 2 (70+)
Hunter River Pharmacy 6 – Vanguard Financial 3 (60+)
Murray Harbour Bruins 4 – Tignish Aces 1 ( 70+)
The 70+ Tignish Aces and 70+ Summerside teams battle it out on the ice. The Tignish Aces ended up taking the game 9-2.
Curling
Bowling- Team
The team bowling was held at Credit Union Place Bowling Lanes.

65+ Bronze Medalists: Alfie Wakelin’s team. Team members include: Ella Somers, Allan Somers, Robert Hill, and Elaine Cudmore
