Day 4- Sat. Sept 1, 2012: Canada 55 + Games- Cape Breton, NS

Hey all,

Today was the final day of competition for the 55 plus crew in Cape Breton, NS.  The PEI contingent represented the island very well. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves!

Here is the breakdown of the results that I have received so far:

Overall Medal Count
PEI finished 8th out of 11 Provinces/Territories represented at the Canada 55+ Games- Cape Breton, NS.   The total medal count for PEI was 22 (8 Gold ,8 Silver,6 Bronze).

Cribbage Standings:

GOLD-Cornwall’s Phyllis Quinn Cheverie and Wilfred Bain take the overall win in cribbage.

Swimming:

GOLD- 50m Backstroke- Ken Williams
GOLD- 100m IM-Letty Abbott
GOLD- 100m Backstroke- Letty Abbott
SILVER- 50m Breaststroke- Ann Andrews
SILVER- 50m Backstroke-Letty Abbott
SILVER- 100 meter Backstroke- Ann Andrews
BRONZE- 50m Backstroke- Ann Andrews

Curling:

Men 55+
BRONZE- Donald Duffenais(Skip), Paul Matheson (Third), Jim Evans (Second), Ralph Yeo (Lead)

True Mixed 55+
BRONZE- Leslie Hardy (Skip), Audrey Callaghan (Third), Walter Callaghan (Second), Kathy Johnston (Lead)

Bocce:

55+ Bocce (Two)
SILVER- Diane Farquharson/Ernie Stavert

Bocce (Four)
SILVER- Ernie Stavert

Men’s 70+ Hockey:

BRONZE- 1 QUE – 0 PEI

(PEI awarded the bronze medal for the tournament 🙂 )
